Africa Unite

Africa Unite

My brothers and sisters in Christ

Africa unite

Let us unite even at night

Let us join forces and fight

Not against each other shall we fight

But against poverty must we fight

In this darkness there shall be light

Our light will so shine, we will stand in might

Though we struggle like mice our victory will be nice

If only we give up our lies

Hypocrisy will lead us in cries

Cries annoying like the ancient flies

Flies that feast on our wounds

So as to increase the pain in our wounds

Pain cutting deep like an axe in the woods

Trifling like a rod on the back of fools

To Africa, we have likened the woods

But to whom shall we liken the axe?

Africa my home my motherland

A land of great fantasy and fairytale

Some of which are yet to be told

Tales of great and mighty warriors

People in our past that stood and stood firm

So proud and so positive

All the galaxies know

Mama Africa is the heart of many souls

The wilderness where many souls rest

Souls returning home from slavery

Dear souls, mother is happy to have you back

Though we preferred both body and spirit in one soul

You left us in prosperity oh prodigal ones

Today you return, only to find us in torment

The axe of poverty tormenting the woods

To poverty, we have likened the axe

But to whom shall we liken to its maker?

Poem from the book, “Cries from a troubled Africa nation”
