Neighbors And Bustards - Poem from the book “Cries From A Troubled African Nation”

Neighbors And Bustards

In a dream I saw a man

Struggling to find his way in darkness

I saw him walk past his neighbor`s house

I saw him stop and I saw him look around

Then my eyes saw what his eyes saw

His neighbor, a strong heartless man

A maniac, a ruthless bastard

He had tied his wife and children onto a tree

With a thorny log

He flagged his wife and children

“Help them”, I shouted

Because he was in my vision

The man could not hear me

He started walking again

“I cannot mingle in my neighbor`s affairs”

This is what he said to himself

As for the neighbor`s wife and children

Non of them ever walked

The neighbor broke their bones,

SADC, how long shall you let us down?

We are helpless

And we cannot defend ourselves

What you haven’t done before

Do it for the first time
