The Time Has Come - Poems from the book “Cries From A Troubled African Nation”
Zimbabwe my people
Look, dawn has come
Listen, listen as the birds sing
Oh my people, my kinsmen
You tailor, you teacher
You giver, you beggar
You baker, you seller
How blind can you be?
Not to see the great light?
Democracy, freedom, a better life
It’s right there in front of you
Yes my word is true
Open your eyes and you will see it
Fight for it and you will get it
It’s yours and in this season
This year of great change
Nothing can take it from you
Zimbabwe Did It
Tunisia did it
Egypt did it
Ivory Coast did it
Libya is doing it
Zimbabwe
Where are you in this tale?
I guess it’s only a matter of time
Soon these shall be our words
Tunisia did it
Egypt did it
Ivory Coast did it
Libya did it
Zimbabwe did it,
Rise People of Zimbabwe, rise
Now is the time to set yourself free
Closed Hands
Your hands, they are closed
For many years they have been closed
You have bathed, you have begged
But yet still, they have been closed
Open them, open them I say
Open them and use them
Your future
Your future is in your hands
Not in Robert`s hands
Not in Morgan`s hands
Not in Arthur’s hands
And not in SADC`S hands
But in your hands
When I was down
I looked for a man to pick me up
I was in a multitude
But yet still I found non
I prayed to God
Great strength he gave
Great strength become mine
And I raised myself
This freedom
It can only come through our hands
Is this our life? Is this our tale?
Rich but poor, strong but weak
The time has come
We must regain our good life
A Million Men And A Thousand Men
A million men
A thousand men
In a war, who is mightier?
In spite of all the guns
The bows and arrows of a thousand man
Who holds the promise of victory?
We do, a million men
Our hearts, our love
In a fight, they are greater than the guns
This is my cry, my great big cry
My words to you my brothers
My lamentations with the mothers
Arise my brothers arise
Arise my sisters, arise my people
The time has come
Indeed it has come
We must set ourselves free
Let us march towards our freedom
